Mobile Clean Truck Check for the Napa Valley

St. Helena • Calistoga • Yountville • Rutherford

CARB-certified diesel smog testing that drives up-valley to you — winery, ranch, vineyard shop, or yard.

Locally owned, based in the North Bay. You don't move the truck. We move the shop.

Up-Valley Trucks Shouldn't Have to Drive Down-Valley

Highway 29 and the Silverado Trail are not a commute you want to make twice in a day just to get a truck tested. From St. Helena or Calistoga, a round trip to a testing station down in Napa can eat most of a working shift — and that's before you sit in a queue.

The trucks up here don't have that time. Vineyard crews in Rutherford, hospitality and facilities fleets in Yountville, gravel and equipment haulers working the valley floor, water trucks and boom trucks staged at wineries from Oakville to Calistoga — all of it is scheduled tight, especially through crush.

So we come to you. I bring CARB-certified equipment to your location anywhere in the Napa Valley, run the Clean Truck Check in 15 to 20 minutes, and submit the result straight to CTC-VIS before I leave. One truck or a whole yard.

3+ trucks: Travel fee waived

Running three or more trucks in St. Helena, Calistoga, Yountville, or Rutherford? The $30 travel fee is waived entirely — just $80 per truck. That price is posted here because you shouldn't have to call and ask what a test costs.

Local, Not On a Route

A lot of the mobile testers working the Napa Valley aren't from here. They run a route, they come through when the route says so, and if you miss the window you wait for the next pass. Ask what a test costs and you get "call for a quote."

We're locally owned and operated and based right here in the North Bay. Calistoga isn't a detour on somebody's route — it's twenty-odd minutes up the road. That's why we can offer same-day and same-week appointments instead of "sometime next month," and why the price is printed on this page instead of quoted over the phone.

It also means if a truck fails, we're not gone for four weeks. We come back and retest inside your 90-day window.

Local vs. Route-Based Testers

  • Based in the North Bay, not hours away
  • Same-day and same-week appointments
  • $80 per truck, posted — no call-for-quote
  • $30 travel fee waived at 3+ trucks
  • Fast retest if a truck fails
  • You talk to the person doing the test

  • Deadlines listed in your CTC-VIS account

The 90-Day Window

  • Passing tests can be submitted 90 days early
  • Room to repair and retest if you fail
  • Waiting until the deadline leaves no margin

  • Older opacity-tested engines stay semi-annual
  • Fleets with a tester lined up feel it far less

Napa Valley Questions

What up-valley fleet owners and owner-operators ask most.

Yes — and it's a short trip for us, because we're based right here in the North Bay rather than hours away. St. Helena, Calistoga, Yountville, and Rutherford are routine stops, not special requests. We test at your winery, ranch, shop, or wherever the truck is parked, and the truck never leaves the property.

$80 per truck, plus a flat $30 travel fee for the visit. At three or more trucks in one location the travel fee is waived entirely — $80 per truck, full stop. The price in Calistoga is the same as the price in Napa. No call-for-quote, and no up-valley surcharge.

Usually the same week, and often the same day if there's a slot open. Because we're local, you're not waiting for an out-of-area truck to work its way onto a monthly route through the valley. Through crush especially, that difference matters.

This is set by the engine model year, not the vehicle model year — and they're often a year apart. Diesel engines from 2013 and newer (and alternative-fuel engines from 2018 and newer) take an OBD scan, which is what we perform. Older engines require a J1667 smoke opacity test. Check the emissions control label on the engine, and if you're not sure, call and we'll sort it out together.

Up to 90 days before your compliance deadline. That window exists for a reason: if the truck fails, you still have time to make the repair and retest before the deadline hits. Testing on the last week is how fleets end up with registration holds. Book early — it costs the same.
