Mobile Clean Truck Check in American Canyon

CARB-Certified Diesel Smog Testing at Your Yard

Green Island Road, the Highway 29 corridor, or wherever your trucks are parked.

You don't move the truck. We move the shop.

Testing Built Around How American Canyon Actually Works

American Canyon is where Napa County's freight moves. Distribution and warehousing off Green Island Road, contractors staging along Highway 29, and haulers running the short hop down to I-80 and the Carquinez Bridge.

Almost none of that work has a spare half-day to drive a truck across the valley to a testing station and sit in a queue.

So we don't ask you to. I bring CARB-certified equipment to your location, run the test in 15 to 20 minutes, and submit the result directly to CTC-VIS. One truck or a small fleet — the testing happens where the truck already is.

American Canyon Questions

The questions American Canyon fleet owners and owner-operators ask most.

Effectively, yes. Clean Truck Check is CARB's official name for the Heavy-Duty Inspection and Maintenance (HD I/M) program, which covers diesel and alternative-fuel vehicles over 14,000 lbs GVWR. Most owners still call it a diesel smog check, and that's fine — it's the same test. It is a completely separate program from the BAR smog check that applies to cars and light-duty trucks.

This is set by the engine model year, not the vehicle model year — and they're often a year apart. Diesel engines from 2013 and newer (and alternative-fuel engines from 2018 and newer) take an OBD scan, which is what we perform. Older engines require a J1667 smoke opacity test. Check the emissions control label on the engine, and if you're not sure, call and we'll sort it out together.

Up to 90 days before your compliance deadline. That window exists for a reason: if the truck fails, you still have time to make the repair and retest before the deadline hits. Testing on the last week is how fleets end up with registration holds. Book early — it costs the same.

Yes — we're fully mobile. We test at your yard, jobsite, or wherever the truck is parked, throughout American Canyon and the Green Island Road industrial area. Your truck never leaves the property and your driver never loses a shift.

Yes. Clean Truck Check applies to subject vehicles operating in California regardless of where they're registered. The difference is how your deadline is calculated: out-of-state vehicles use the last digit of the VIN rather than a California DMV registration date. Your CTC-VIS account will show the exact date.
